I’m off to Beijing in the morning. My father has a business conference in the Chinese capital on Tuesday and Wednesday and he decided to come a couple days early so we could have some time together and I could show him around. This’ll be the first time we’ve seen each other (other than on Skype) in about a year and a half. He’s gonna get a bit of a whirlwind tour of the big stuff: Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden City, the Great Wall, some traditional style alleyways, the Temple of Heaven, maybe a park or two. And a night market where they sell sheep penis. It should be great fun.
Speaking of wind, his trip comes the day after Beijing was slammed by its biggest sandstorm in fifty years, down from the Gobi. The spirit of Genghis Khan is apparently pissed, and you shouldn’t piss off the spirit of Genghis Khan. Looks like these pictures are from Mars. Hope it clears up by at least Monday, when we’re gonna go out to the Great Wall….
